* The cultural of Goa is immensely rich and provides a glimpse of the East and of the West.
* Goa changed many political hand and her boundaries kept changing.
* According to a mention in 'Suta Samhita' Goa then was known as Govapuri, the port town on the right bank of River Zuari, an ancient Hindu religious centre. Later it came to be called 'Gove' and ultimately become 'Goa' under the Portuguese regime.
* Goan society is predominantly and noticeably divided into two groups, the Hindus and the Christians. The former has clung traditionally close to Indian culture while the latter is deeply influenced by the western.
* Goa is also known as a party capital of the country.
